Appointments
To schedule your annual mammogram, call 320-864-7816. For your convenience, appointments are available beginning at 6:15 a.m., Monday through Friday. If this will be your first mammogram, talk with your primary care provider before scheduling.
Mammogram recommendations
Glencoe Regional Health providers recommend that all women age 40 and older have a screening mammogram every year.
Some women have a higher risk of developing breast cancer. If you are at increased risk, there may be additional or more frequent screening tests recommended for you. Ask your primary care provider to assess your breast cancer risk factors and recommend the best screening plan for you.
Your First Mammogram: How to Prepare and What to Expect
Digital mammography
All mammograms at Glencoe Regional Health are full-field digital mammograms, in which the image is stored in a digital format for viewing on a computer screen instead of on film. Digital mammograms enable radiologists to electronically enhance, magnify, store, and retrieve images, making long-distance consultations easier. They also help radiologists to see subtle differences between normal and abnormal breast tissue, which can reduce the number of follow-up images and exposure to radiation in some patients. We also offer 3D mammograms, which have been shown to detect more breast cancers than standard mammography.
Insurance
Traditional 2D screening mammograms are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare. While 3D screening mammograms are also covered by many insurance plans, including Medicare, they are not yet considered the standard of care and may not be covered by your insurance. Call your insurance provider to ask about your coverage.
If you will be paying for any portion of your mammogram directly, call our Billing Department at 320-864-7101 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays for help estimating costs and to make payment arrangements.
