What to Expect
After your appointment has been scheduled, we will search for your recent imaging files (MRIs, X-rays, CT scans) in our shared electronic medical records system. If you have not had recent imaging on the area where you are experiencing pain, or if we are unable to locate your files, we will contact you to schedule imaging prior to your Pain Clinic appointment.
Patients are thoroughly evaluated by our board-certified Pain Management Specialist, who diagnoses the pain source, determines a plan of care, and offers techniques to minimize pain. From there, patients may be referred to other providers at Glencoe Regional Health to help manage all aspects of the pain cycle – physically and psychologically. The Pain Management Specialist will review your current medication regimen and may make adjustments to it. Supplements and other over-the-counter medications may also be suggested to minimize chronic pain.
For a successful first visit, patients are advised to:
- Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to fill out new patient paperwork.
- Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move around in for a physical exam.
- Plan for the appointment to take approximately one hour.
Referral
A patient can self-refer if allowed by their insurance. To schedule an appointment with your primary care provider for a referral, or directly with the Pain Management Specialist, call 320-864-7816.
