Mental health has been identified as a significant community health
need in our community. In addition to providing mental health services, below is a list of local and national resources for education, ongoing management, and crisis prevention.

McLeod County Mental Health Crisis Response – Call 320-864-2713

Serving adults, children, and families, with a goal to provide immediate access to mental health services while trying to avoid police or E.R. involvement.

Call if you or someone you care about is struggling with:

  • Thoughts/plan of suicide or self-harm
  • Anxiety or panic attacks
  • Depression or mood swings
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Paranoia or fear for safety

A crisis clinician will travel to any safe and appropriate location to meet with the person in distress to help them to:

  • Cope with immediate stressors and lessen their suffering
  • Identify and use available resources and recipient’s strengths
  • Avoid unnecessary hospitalization and loss of independent living
  • Develop action plans
  • Begin to return to their baseline level of functioning

Minnesota Farm and Rural Helpline Call 1-833-600-2670 or text “FarmStress” to 898211

Farmers and rural communities face unique stresses and emotional situations, including financial challenges, unpredictable weather, and physically demanding work. Stress, anxiety, depression, financial burdens, and other mental and emotional challenges are common.

The Minnesota Farm & Rural Helpline connects callers to financial help, mental health counselors, legal assistance, and more. Calls are confidential, but counselors may ask for a first name and phone number in case of a dropped call. Translation services are available in all languages. The Helpline is also available to people who are worried about family or friends and aren’t sure how to help.

Call 911 – if there is IMMEDIATE DANGER to you or someone else.

  • Stay calm and tell the dispatcher “there is a mental health emergency” and ask for a Mobile Crisis Team
  • If a Mobile Crisis Team is not available, ask for a CIT Trained Officer (Crisis Intervention Team)
  • Be prepared to share information about mental health history, diagnosis, triggers, what has worked in the past, details of the current situation, and more

Suicide Loss Support Group

This is a supportive and safe environment for adult suicide loss survivors to share and connect with others who have also experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide.

Meets the second Monday of the month, 7 – 8:30 p.m.

Peer Support for Mental Health

This is a peer-led support group open to adults living with mental health concerns or symptoms of mental illness. The group is led by a trained facilitator.

Meets every Tuesday, 1 – 2:30 p.m.
