Medical Focus

As a board-certified hematologist and oncologist, I provide care for patients dealing with cancer and blood disorders. I confirm their diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and monitor their care over time. If a patient needs chemotherapy, that service is available at Glencoe Regional Health, and I will supervise the patient’s regimen. I also refer patients to radiation therapy providers as needed. While I treat a broad spectrum of cancers, I have a special interest in leukemia, lymphoma, and cancers affecting the bladder, kidneys, and prostate gland.

My Passion

I listen carefully and make sure patients never feel rushed at visits. Talking about cancer is pretty intimidating for the average person, so I do my best to explain medical terms as simply and clearly as possible. I stay current on clinical trials and recommend early supportive care for patients with advanced cancers, an approach that is proven to improve their quality of life.

After Hours

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Diane. We have two adult children and an Irish Setter. Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading about history, and listening to and playing bluegrass music. I also am actively involved with the Foundation for Cancer Care in Tanzania, a Twin Cities-based consortium of oncology groups.
