Packing your hospital bag for delivery is an essential step in preparing for childbirth, as it ensures you have everything you need for a comfortable and stress-free experience. A well-packed bag allows you to focus on the arrival of your baby without worrying about missing essentials. Being prepared also provides peace of mind, knowing you’re ready for any scenario during this life-changing event.

Labor bag

For the Mom

  • A robe is provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own from home
  • A comfortable nightgown or big shirt
  • Socks
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Your favorite pregnancy guide, articles, or other reading material
  • Music and personal player, plus headphones if desired
  • Hair band and clips
  • An extra or favorite pillow
  • Lip moisturizer and lotion
  • Eyeglasses, contact lenses, and supplies

For the Coach

  • Camera
  • Watch or small clock with a second hand
  • Massage supplies or any other comfort items
  • Change for the vending machines, but keep in mind that coaches get a free room service meal after delivery
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, and breath mints
  • Eyeglasses, contact lenses, and supplies
  • Mobile phone and important phone numbers

After Delivery

  • One or two nursing nightgowns or pajamas with button-front top
  • Slippers
  • Maternity underwear
  • Nursing bra
  • Soap, shampoo, and other toiletries
  • Hairbrush
  • Loose-fitting clothes to wear home

For the Baby

  • Our volunteers make caps for newborns
  • Car seat, properly installed
  • Sleeper with feet, an undershirt or onesie, or an outfit (including socks)
  • Light blanket
  • If it’s cold outside, a snowsuit or bunting, and a heavier blanket
