VELYS uses cameras and sensors to create a real-time 3D map of the joint, allowing surgeons to make highly accurate bone cuts and position implants based on each patient’s unique anatomy. The system provides real-time measurements and guidance throughout the procedure, continuously tailoring the procedure specifically to the patient. While the VELYS system offers insights for real-time decision making, it does not move or operate on its own, allowing our surgeons to remain in full control of the procedure.
“VELYS is a robotic-assisted system that helps your surgeon perform joint replacements with extra precision,” said Director of Surgical Services Stephanie Halverson. “It’s comparable to using a GPS instead of a paper map. In this circumstance, the surgeon is still in control, but with much more precise guidance. The VELYS system tells the surgeon the exact gap, tension, and angle of the joint before, during, and after any cut is made, ensuring the best possible outcome for the patient.”
Patients may experience reduced pain, faster recovery, improved range of motion, and longer-lasting implants through procedures that utilize the VELYS system. In some cases, it can also reduce the need for preoperative CT scans or MRIs, making the process more efficient from start to finish.
