Advanced Life Support
Glencoe Regional Health holds an Advanced Life Support license for its ambulance service. This means our paramedics are trained and certified to start a wide range of treatments before the patient arrives at the emergency room. They can insert breathing tubes, interpret EKGs to diagnose heart attack, administer shocks to correct abnormal heart rhythms, attend emergency childbirths, clear obstructed airways, control bleeding, start IVs, and administer a broad range of medications.
Operated by Allina Health Emergency Medical Services
Our ambulance service is operated by Allina Health Emergency Medical Services (AHEMS), one of the region’s largest ambulance and medical transportation services. This means:
- Our ambulance service staff are employed by AHEMS.
- Our ambulance service staff wear Allina Health uniforms.
- The Glencoe Regional Health ambulances display the Allina Health logo on the driver and passenger side doors.
- When local 9-1-1 calls are relayed to AHEMS, trained dispatchers will confirm that help is on the way and stay on the line to provide the caller with support and specific instructions.
