If you have an upcoming procedure scheduled that requires an overnight stay or more, this Prepare for a Hospital Stay guide may be helpful.
No matter what you’re “in” for, our hospitalist physicians, nurses, and imaging, laboratory, dietary and housekeeping staff will make you feel better about being here. But there are other reasons that our hospital will make you feel better:
Comfortable Accommodations
All of our rooms are private – large enough for you and visitors, and small enough to make you feel warm and comfortable.
Room Service
We offer room-service menus with real choice. You’ll love your options.
Safety
Our staff has access to your electronic medical records, right in your room, at the push of a button. Your medications, health history, allergies, treatment plans are always on hand.
Visitors Welcome
Our suggested visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week. If you need to get into the hospital when our main doors are locked, use the phone in the hospital entryway. You’ll be connected to the switchboard and someone will help you. When respiratory illness is high in our community, visitor restrictions may be in effect.
Hospitalists
A hospitalist is a physician or other healthcare provider who is based in the hospital and whose role is to oversee care for patients who have been admitted to our acute care unit or transitional care unit to recover from illness, injury or surgery.
The hospitalist monitors your status, orders tests and medications, keeps your primary care provider and loved ones informed, coordinates the work of other Glencoe Regional Health providers who are involved in your care, and decides when you are ready to be discharged. Our hospitalists work in weeklong shifts, so it’s likely that the same hospitalist physician will oversee your care throughout your stay.
Certified nurse practitioner Michele Schuberg supports the hospitalist physicians by rounding on patients in the transitional care unit (TCU) each weekday for added coordination between the hospitalist and the TCU nursing team lead.
