What to Expect
Before treatment begins, your physical therapist will conduct an initial evaluation. Afterward, he or she will develop a treatment plan using techniques designed specifically to help with your condition. These treatments may include manual therapy, muscle control exercises, balance training, stretches, muscle retraining and strengthening exercises, and/or body posture education – to name a few.
Therapy Settings
We provide physical therapy on an outpatient basis in the Rehabilitation Services department on the third floor of the hospital on our Glencoe campus. Our physical therapists also provide services to patients who are recovering in the Transitional Care Unit on the second floor of the hospital.
Protocols
Patients who undergo orthopedic surgery at GRH are prescribed a course of physical and/or occupational therapy to support their recovery. They can receive therapy at GRH or choose another facility for convenience. To assist therapists at other facilities, we publish the rehabilitation protocols for all orthopedic procedures performed at Glencoe Regional Health.
