Glencoe Regional Health Adds a Path For Everyone

walking path

Thanks to a donation from the Glencoe Regional Health Foundation, a new walking path will be opening on our Glencoe campus.

After months of planning and construction, the walking path will officially open on Sunday, August 29 during our Grand Opening for the path from 1 – 3 p.m.

The walking path will be available through three seasons to patients, residents, tenants, staff, and the community. Visitors will have the chance to choose between multiple routes, which thread their way across our campus, each with differing distances ranging from .35 to .80 of a mile.

“We know this investment in our campus is setting the foundation for good health,” said President and CEO Patty Henderson, MBA, BSN. “We’re excited to welcome our community to our new space, so they may enjoy the mental and physical benefits of the path.”

While there are plans for future additions to the path, several features will not be available immediately upon opening.

“The walking path is a work-in-progress that will continue to develop over time,” said Patty. “We’re looking forward to adding features such as a monarch waystation, veteran’s memorial, and a garden for GlenFields residents to tend to and enjoy. We’ve also planted native prairie grasses along the path, which we expect to take time to fully grow and flourish.”

To officially open the new space, we’re holding a Grand Opening! Community members are invited to tour the new space, and check out the future sites of our monarch waystation, Helping Hands Garden for our GlenFields residents, and future veteran’s memorial. There will also be opportunities for individuals to support these future spaces through donations via cash or credit card.
